Laugh Out Loud! – “A Whirlpool of Wit..”

Description:

The Stand-Up Comedy Competition is a fun-filled event designed to boost confidence, creativity, and communication skills among students. Participants will present original comedy content, showcasing their wit, timing, and stage presence. This light-hearted event encourages self-expression through laughter while building public speaking skills in an engaging and supportive environment.

Event Specifications:

  • Event Day & Date of Event: Saturday, 2 August 2025
  • Eligibility: Classes 5 and 6 
  • Type of Event: Individual
  • Number of Entries from School: 2 Participant per School
  • Time Limit: 3 Min

Rules of the Event:

  • Content must be original and age-appropriate.
  • Avoid offensive, vulgar or insensitive expressions.
  • Use of props is allowed but must be minimal and manageable by the participant.
  • No background music or sound effects will be allowed.
  • The act must be in English only.
  • Exceeding the given ‘Time Limit’, may lead to negative marking.
  • Participants may dress in formal attire or wear a costume that complements their act.
  • The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Page To Stage

Description:

“Page to Stage” is a dynamic literary event that brings characters from classic English literature to life through fashion, voice, and performance. Participants will portray a character using costume, props, music, and dialogue — ultimately vying for the literary crown.

Event Specifications:

  • Event Day & Date of Event: Saturday, 2 August 2025
  • Eligibility: Classes 9 and 12 
  • Type of Event: Individual
  • Number of Entries from School: 1 Participant per School
  • Time Limit: Round 1 – 3Min, Round 2 – 2 Min

Rules of the Event:

  • Character Selection (IMPORTANT):

Each participant must select one character from the list given below. These characters have been carefully selected from classic English literature, including novels, plays, poetry, and fairy tales.

The list includes famous protagonists, heroines, and villainous figures known for their expressive traits, unique personalities, and strong stage presence.

Participants must strictly choose from the characters listed below. Selection outside this list will not be permitted.

    • Cinderella – Grimm’s Fairy Tales (adapted widely)
    • Cleopatra – Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare
    • Lady Macbeth – Macbeth by William Shakespeare

    • Jane Eyre – Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
    • Miss Trunchbull – Matilda by Roald Dahl
  • Male Characters
    • Sherlock Holmes – The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

    • Huckleberry Finn – The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Tips for Selection: Choose a character that allows for:

  • Expressive performance and impactful dialogue
  • Creative costume and prop use
  • Unique storytelling and emotional depth

General Guidelines:

  • Participants: Only one participant per school is allowed.
  • Language: All presentations must be in English.
  • Props & Costume: Participants must arrive dressed as their chosen character, with safe, school-appropriate props to enhance their portrayal.
  • Background Music (BGM): Participants must bring a relevant background track (on a pen drive) for use during their ramp walk.
  • Judges’ Decision: Final and binding in all matters.

Round Details

Round 1: The Character Talk
  • Ramp Walk + Monologue + Q&A

Format:

  • Walk the ramp in character with selected background music.
  • Deliver a 1–2-minute monologue introducing and portraying the character.
  • Face a 1-minute Q&A session with the judges (in character).
Round 1: Judgement Criteria

  • Interactive Communication (Q&A)

NOTE: The top four selected participants will move to Round 2 based on cumulative scores.

Round 2: The Verbal Voyagers
  • Claim the Crown – Monologue Challenge

Concept:

A crown will be placed on a central pedestal. Each finalist will step forward and deliver a powerful 2-minute monologue explaining why they deserve the crown — staying completely in character.

Rules:

  • Props are allowed and encouraged but must be lightweight, safe, and relevant
  • The monologue should reflect: The character’s personality, conflicts, and motivations
  • Creativity in voice, tone, and expression
  • No inappropriate content or violent/offensive language
  • Time limit: 2 minutes (overtime may reduce marks)
Round 2: Judgement Criteria
  • Creativity & Originality
  • Speaking Skill & Spontaneity
  • Justification of the Crown Claim
  • Overall Stage Presence

Winner Title: Page to Stage Champ

The participant with the highest combined score from both rounds will be crowned the Page to Stage Champion.
